I’m STEVE NOREN. I have been the managing broker of Thunderbird Real estate for over 20 years and one of it's co-founders. Like most successful real estate brokers, I came to real estate from another profession. I first trained as an academic, earning a B.S.Ch.E. in chemical Engineering from Ohio University, followed by an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts in philosophy, philosophy of science and logic. After some 15 years as a university professor winning awards for teaching and for research, the profession lost its allure for me. In 1977 I decided to give voice to a my more practical side.



I then started my real estate career in Bounder Creek in Santa Cruz County where I quickly rose to the top tier in residential sales at a local Century 21. In 1980 I earned my Broker’s license and started Noren, Aust Associates in a small office across the street. By 1982, Noren, Aust Associates had three offices in the San Lorenzo Valley and about 45 agents. In 1983 I left the area for Hawaii where I continued my real estate career until returning to the Santa Cruz Area in 1987. In 1989 I became the managing broker and part owner of the venerable Thunderbird Real Estate, and still am today.



I have been involved with the brokering of real estate here in the Santa Cruz-Monterey areas for over 30 years and have won numerous awards for the sale of land, homes on land, and general residential sales. Rural property is my favorite and my specialty, although I have deep experience in general residential sales, project sales and even commercial property sales.
